San Diego CA, 11 October, 2016: Anokiwave, Inc., an innovative company providing highly integrated IC solutions for mmW markets and active antenna based solutions, today announced it has joined the 3rd Generation Partnership Program (3GPP) as a guest member. Anokiwave’s membership in 3GPP will continue to advance our leadership position in the mmW 5G market as future specifications and standards are developed for 5G.
3GPP unites seven telecommunications standard development organizations and provides their members with a stable environment to produce the Reports and Specifications that define 3GPP technologies. The 3GPP scope includes managing the evolving standards for 5G. The 3GPP Technical Specifications Group has recently agreed on a detailed workplan for its first release of 5G specifications (Release 15) which includes a decision point in December, 2016 in which 3GPP will plan system architecture features that will be included in the Release 15 in 2018. As a guest member, Anokiwave will be able to significantly contribute to the architecture discussions as one of the first companies to have introduced mmW 5G ICs in the marketplace. 3GPP anticipates the full phase 1 5G deployments will commence in 2020.
